It is constructed by welding together pieces of coloured, plain and textured glass in different intricate patterns to form a single pane which can be fixed in a panel so that when light passes through it, it dances with different colours and shades. It was extensively used in windows of medieval churches. In modern times it is used as a decorative element in doors, windows and skylights of restaurants, high end showrooms, designer homes and wherever a look of old English décor is to be conveyed.
